Maria Mercedes Saizar, PhD, is a Researcher at the National Council of Scientific and Technical Researches (CONICET-Name in Spanish) and member of Argentinean Center of American Ethnology (Centro Argentino de Etnología Americana-Name in Spanish). Professor at the National Arts University (Instituto Universitario Nacional del Arte-Name of University in Spanish), Department of Folklore, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her research topic is focused on therapeutic strategies of complementariness between biomedicine and complementary and alternative therapies in urban contexts. She has published her findings in two books as sole author, more than forty articles in national and international scientific journals; she has contributed with fifteen chapters in compilations by other authors for national and international editorials. She currently directs four postgraduate fellows (Phd and MA).
